The regional informational meeting, part of the project “Changing with the Climate”, took place in Sofia on 12 December in the hall of the National School of Finance and Economics (NFSG). The meeting was attended by 42 participants, as well as by experts from NGOs, students, teachers, principals and vice-principals from various schools in the capital.
The meeting was opened by the Director of NFSG with a focus on the impacts of climate change and the readiness of young people to engage with such an important and challenging topic.
Experts from the “Changing with Climate” project presented the activities planned, including the educational programmes created to address the challenges of climate change. Attendees had the opportunity to get familiarized with the structure and contents of the educational information portal. Teachers who participated in the meeting were encouraged to participate in the further development of the portal with educational materials according to the thematic areas.
A highlight of the event was the working groups in which attendees banded together to propose topics for future developments and discussions, part of school projects and campaigns. In each of the groups there were teachers, students, experts, representatives of the institution and representatives of the project team.
The themes proposed at the meeting for campaigns and school projects in the city of Sofia were:
- With a quick step and wheel.
- Harmless emissions.
- Soil erosion due to climate change.
- Carbon-free transport.
- Valuing and not wasting food.
