Between March and June this year, the schools – partners of the “Changing with Climate” project – prepared and implemented their campaigns and school projects.
A total of 25 educational institutions were involved, 31 initiatives were implemented with 3231 participants – students, teachers, parents, experts, local community.
The most active participants in the process were the students. The projects and the campaigns were in the areas of research on the relationship between:
- Climate and biodiversity
- Soils and Climate Change
- Energy efficiency and climate
- Water and climate
- Climate and consumer attitudes and behaviours
- Alternative sources of travel and carbon footprint reduction
- Greenhouse gas emissions, climate and recycling of clothing and waste
- Forests and Climate Change
- Human behaviour and nature
The activities are a success, with clear results. We consider our mission to raise public awareness of climate change and its impact on human health, the environment and social and economic life a success.
In the course of our work, many ideas and concrete measures for mitigation, adaptation and resilience to the emergence of climate change have been expressed.
The partner schools of the project created invitations to initiate regional campaigns and school projects addressed to students, teachers and local community representatives. They organised consultations with potential participants – other educational institutions, local authorities and businesses, in order to secure additional support. They published information about their projects and campaigns on social media and provided information to local media.
The following results were achieved:
- 31 regional campaigns and school projects with over 3200 participants.
- Behaviors and policies for addressing emerging climate challenges and proposals for local policy formulation/adaptation were discussed in schools.
- There have been over 20 publications in local and regional media.
