The regional informational meeting in. Bansko, part of the project “Changing with the Climate”, took place on 9 December in the hall of the Visitor Information Centre of Bansko (Old Cinema).
We are happy to announce that 49 participants took part in the meeting, including students, teachers and principals from local schools, representatives of the Municipality of Bansko, as well as experts and representatives of local businesses in the field of tourism and the Pirin National Park.
Those present expressed their satisfaction that such a project is taking place on the territory of Bansko Municipality, which would unite the efforts of pedagogical specialists, students, experts and citizens to increase understanding of the effects of climate change on nature, people and economies. The Union of Tourism Business-Bansko, congratulated all participants for their commitment to this important topic and pledged their support in the implementation of school projects and campaigns.
Experts from the “Changing with Climate” project presented the educational programmes created addressing the challenges of climate change. Participants were shown the content of the envisaged educational information portal through examples, games and videos. Teachers were invited to participate in the further development of the portal with educational materials on the topic.
In the second part of the meeting the participants divided into small working groups. Each group had the opportunity to propose a theme, key steps and participants in local school projects and campaigns. After the discussion of the topics within the group, they were discussed and complemented by the other participants.
The themes proposed for local campaigns and school student projects for the town of Bansko were the following:
- Food is a deity.
- Let’s build our “green” home (“Our home in the universe – the Earth”).
- My tree – our forest – Planting and growing a forest.
