Pedagogical specialists training programs under the project “Channing with climate”

July 5, 2022January 25, 2023

Within the framework of the project 3 programmes have been developed and approved by the Ministry of Education and Science, which have then entered in the Information Registry of Approved Qualification Programmes.

Environmental Education in Schools – Climate Change and the Effects on Economic Sectors – UIN 90930064, 2 credits

Environmental Education in School – Impact of Climate Change on Environmental Components – UIN 90930065, 2 credits.

Environmental Education in School – Climate Change, Natural Disasters and Human Health – UIN 90930066, 1 credit

The programmes aim to:

1. Increase teachers’ knowledge of contemporary concepts, approaches and practical solutions related to climate change, as well as mitigation, adaptation and resilience measures being implemented.

2. Formation of teachers’ competences for:

  • integrating climate change issues into compulsory subjects;
  • structuring cross-curricular research in the area of climate change and its impact on the environment that provides a context in which students can think while acquiring vital knowledge, skills and attitudes;
  • organising learning around ‘networks’ of meanings and senses that can be considered from different perspectives, in which students will be able to discuss and revisit concepts and evaluate ideas that transcend the boundaries of individual disciplines, thus forming skills of learning and understanding.

The trainings organized by the programs are based on the concept of experiential learning – working with the natural expertise of each participant, with the knowledge, emotions and values of the participants. The alternation between theoretical and practical work provides an opportunity to practice and apply the acquired knowledge, to develop creative thinking, motivation for teamwork and application of innovation in the process of organizing learning.

The programmes are open to participation and allow any teacher interested in opportunities to integrate climate change issues into their work to sign up for training.

We believe that these topics are interesting and inspiring for students, because they draw attention to the future, and what we can individually and collectively do to mitigate the effects of climate change on all aspects of human life!
